Step 1: Check Eligibility
To qualify for the Self-Employed Persons Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Relevant Work Experience
You must have at least two years of self-employment experience or participation at a world-class level in cultural or athletic activities within the last five years.

2. Ability to Be Self-Employed in Canada

3. Selection Criteria & Points System
Canada uses a 100-point system, and you must score at least 35 points based on:
- Experience (maximum 35 points)
- Education (maximum 25 points)
- Age (maximum 10 points)
- Language ability (maximum 24 points)
- Adaptability (maximum 6 points)
4. Medical, Security & Financial Requirements
- Undergo a medical exam and provide a police clearance certificate.
- Show proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and your family upon arrival.
Step 2: Gather Required Documents
You will need:

Step 3: Submit Your Application
- Complete the IMM 0008 Generic Application Form and other required forms.
- Pay the processing fee ($2,140 for principal applicant, $1,365 for spouse, $230 per child).
- Submit your application online via the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) portal.
Step 4: Wait for Processing
Processing times vary but typically take 24 to 36 months. IRCC may request additional documents or conduct an interview.
Step 5: Receive a Decision
If approved, you will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). You can then travel to Canada and officially settle as a permanent resident.
