The Self-Employed Persons Program allows individuals with relevant cultural or athletic experience to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents. This program is designed for people who can make a significant contribution to Canada’s cultural or athletic life.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, you must meet these eligibility requirements:
1. Relevant Experience
✔ At least two years of self-employment or world-class participation in:
- Cultural activities (e.g., musicians, artists, writers, filmmakers, designers)
- Athletics (e.g., professional athletes, coaches, sports officials)
✔ Experience must be within the last five years before applying
2. Ability to Contribute
✔ Your skills must allow you to become self-employed in Canada
✔ You must show a history of success in your field

✔ Step 3: Pay fees and wait for IRCC processing (processing time: 24+ months)
✔ Step 4: If approved, receive permanent residence
